Thomas David Koharchik, Conductor

Mr. Koharchik has been affiliated with the North Hills Chorale since January of 2003 and has been the Music Director since early 2004.  A 2003 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he received his BS in Music Education, Mr. Koharchik has accompanied, sang with, and now directs the ensemble.

He teaches General Music and Junior/Senior High Choir at Freeport Area School District. He is the Musical Theater Director and Stage Manager for the district.  He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), MENC, PMEA, PSEA and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. On his "off time", Mr. Koharchik serves as a Staff Sergeant with the US Army Reserves' 298th Transportation Company, in Franklin, Pennsylvania.

His premiere performance as director of the chorale was in May, 2004 leading the group in Donald McCullough's "Holocaust Cantata" and Antonio Vivaldi's "Gloria".  The 2006 season provided a unique opportunity to work with composer Paul Carey as Mr. Koharchik directed the North Hills Chorale in the world premiere performance of "1944". He brings a young, energetic attitude to each rehearsal, incorporating new techniques constantly. His desire to entertain is surpassed only by his goals to educate.
